As part of the SNSF-Starting Grant, our Neurodiversity and Cognition research group is investigating in this study which characteristics of humorous information influence the understanding and appreciation of humor in adolescents on the autism spectrum (AS).
In particular, we want to find out whether adolescents with autism understand and appreciate different types of verbal and visual humor. In addition, we investigate whether adolescents with AS understand and appreciate humorous information describing situations with which they are more familiar than unfamiliar situations. To test these aspects, we use the electroencephalogram (EEG) and the Facial Action Coding System (FACS).
In this context, we are looking for two motivated Master's students from the field of psychology who are interested in the project and would like to write their Master's thesis on this topic.
