Study on how adolescents and young adults deal with stress, crises, media use and resilience

Together with the Pro Juventute Foundation, we at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich (KJPP) conducted a nationally representative study on how adolescents and young adults in Switzerland deal with stress, crises, media use and resilience.

The findings show significant differences between the sexes and less stress from social media than expected. The study also showed that a good relationship with parents has a positive effect on the mental and physical well-being of young people. However, 10% of the participants are in professional treatment and over 10% of the adolescents have at least an increased risk of developing pathological media consumption. There are many more results that we are analyzing in greater depth. The study will be repeated next year.
